Oat & Pecan Cookies

Awesome cookies packed with oats and pecans, can you stop at one?

Oat and Pecan Cookies | Nomsies Kitchen

Hello you!

Oat and Pecan Cookies | Nomsies Kitchen

It’s January and I hope you are holding tight to your resolutions.

As for me, I am a really rubbish swimmer so I have resolved to learn how to swim properly this year. If I can swim four laps without stopping I will regard that as a success.

Now, pull up a chair and tell me about your resolutions for 2015. If you can’t do that, you just have to leave me some comments. In any event, I only wish you every success for whatever it is you have decided to accomplish.

If you ever need some hand holding just give me a shout.

All together now – yes we can!

Whenever you have an off-day, just have a cookie.

You know what kind of cookie you need, the kind of cookies that go well with a cup of coffee, a good friend and lots of gossip.

Hands up if you want those cookies!

Oat and Pecan Cookies | Nomsies Kitchen

Well, these oat and pecan cookies are just that. I got the recipe from Thomas Keller’s Bouchon Bakery book. So if you don’t trust me, you know you can certainly trust Thomas Keller. Simple and straight to the point cookies, if you are into oats and pecans in your cookies, read on for the recipe below.

Chinese New Year Peanut Cookies

Nomsies Kitchen Chinese New Year Peanut Cookies for Sale UK
Nomsies Kitchen: Traditional Chinese New Year Peanut Cookies
Melt in your mouth traditional Chinese peanut cookies
Hello and happy weekend!
One thing about being Chinese is that we get to celebrate Chinese New Year! This year it is on 31 January, which isn't that far away at all. I still haven't recovered from the Christmas festivities. Anyhow, I am still looking forward to welcome the Year of the Horse come the end of the month.

As with all celebrations, there inevitably comes the great baking madness! I love baking Chinese New Year cookies. One of my favourites are traditional Chinese peanut cookies. They melt in your mouth and taste just as good with coffee as they do with beer. Made from scratch (no such thing as peanut butter here) using roasted peanuts, they are incredibly irresistible and so difficult to stop eating!

This year, I am forging ahead and have decided to start selling my cookies. I am starting with this cookie but stay tuned for more varieties as I will be posting them up by next week.

Back to this winner of a cookie, the details are as set out below:

Each cookie is made by hand and is about the size of a bottle cap. This photo is for comparison purposes and is also a bit of a laugh!
All cookies are made to order by hand so you can be assured of optimum freshness. Needless to say no preservatives are used.

Collection/delivery around Newcastle/Gateshead area can be arranged, cash upon receipt is preferred. For everyone else, shipping within the UK is possible, payment will be made via Paypal. Ready to order or have any questions? Please drop me a line at nomsieskitchen@gmail.com or call/text/whatsapp 074 4748 0418 for details.

Why not bring a little taste of Chinese New Year to yourself? I look forward to hearing from you.

Chewy Chocolate Chunk Cookies with Hazelnuts

Just chewy enough, tastes equally good slightly warm or straight out of the cookie jar
Happy Hump Day! It’s Wednesday, so why not sit back and enjoy a cookie or three? I know it is the start of a new year and a lot of people are embarking on weight loss or healthy journeys so I was thinking twice about sharing this recipe. Then again, it is too good not to share. Don’t take this the wrong way, I assure you I am there to support you on your quest to be a better you. However, there are times in life when you just need a cookie break. It is not a contradiction. All things in moderation and you will not eat the whole pack or whole jar of cookies. That’s my philosophy any way. As such, when you are in need of a cookie break or if you are baking for kids or friends, I hope you will have this recipe by your side to try. At the end of the day, if you want a cookie, it is much better to have a homemade one then a packaged one from the supermarket.

Christmas Festive Spiced Biscuits

Festive Spiced Biscuits
It is the time of year to indulge in all things festive! For me, that means lots of festive spices. I must have professed my love for baked goods with cinnamon or spices in them time and time again. One of my all time favourites is carrot cake or muffins; you can read all about that here. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I just cannot get enough of the smell of cinnamon. There is just something so rich and inviting about the scent of butter accented with cinnamon and nutty spices wafting through the house. It instantly transforms your house into a warm and toasty home.

Nomsies Kitchen: Festive Spiced Biscuits

It should come as no surprise that my favourite biscuits are spiced biscuits. I have tried to recreate the store bought variety and after having baked and eaten far too many biscuits than I care to admit, I am sharing an excellent recipe for Festive Spiced Biscuits that will beat any store bought variety. It has a crisp and crunchy texture but not so hard that you will lose a tooth. For the flavours, I use some mixed spice and cinnamon. This recipe does not contain any eggs.

Peanut Butter Cookies

Peanut Butter Cookies
Hello and happy Wednesday!

Do you know of a domestic goddess who has jar after jar of neatly arranged home baked cookies in her home? Well I always have a dream to be a domestic goddess such as that. I am a long way off but seeing that it is nearly the end of 2013, it is time to buck up and make those resolutions I made earlier this year come true.
